This angle seems all fair and nice, but it seems that it is the case that there are various groups of people that are trying to say that there are bugs that are known security bugs, thus making the wording "please upgrade" slightly obfuscated when it might have been more approriate to say "we have fixed n security issues".
Feel free to take a look, but there has been some active campaigning on lwn.net from some people, and hardly a release has gone by without someone pointing out that there have been actual security issues fixed. Hence the comments such as posts #1 and #2.
