GCC 2.95, still?!!! I'm slightly surprised that some of the ports will even *build* with it...

gcc 2.95 is used only for old architectures not supported by gcc3: m68k, m88k, sparc and vax. You generally don't want to be building large C++ ports on these ancient platforms anyway :)
