Parent article: Directions for GNOME 3.0

As for this particular use case, I just did:
1) rightclick on picture in Epiphany, select Save picture, save it somewhere
2) open GIMP
3) Choose File->Open
4) In file selector, just under Search there is "Recently used", click it
5) from few files shown, first is picture I just saved.

And this is on Fedora 8, not even the latest software. We already have solution for this problem, maybe it's not marketed enough?

In Debian Sid Gnome(without evolution):

Right Click Image in Iceweasel
> select copy mage
Open Gimp
>file > paste as new image
Edit
>file > Send as email

THAT would not be bad actually.

But the Gimp send as email dialog is _VERY_ rudimentary (in other words: worthless).

So
> Save
Open email client
> New email
Attach > find file in file dialog.

That workflow is pretty bad if you ask me.

In my mind, the right workflow would be:

Open the mail application
Create a new message
Open the browser (Iceweasel or whatever)
position the mouse over the picture and drag it over the message window

Now, the right workflow for opening it with the GIMP:

Open the GIMP
drag the image over it

Or

right click the image, then select "open with" and then "Image editor (the GIMP)".

You don't need to save the image to disk at all.
