Fedora and long term support

The recent announcement that Wikipedia has standardized on the Ubuntu
distribution has launched a round of introspection within the Fedora
community. It has been suggested that Fedora would have been a more viable
candidate for Wikipedia if it offered a longer support period for at least
some of its releases. The resulting discussion has been long and
wide-ranging; it has also brought back some memories of the experience of
