Parent article: Linux Summit will preview new advanced file system (SearchEnterpriseLinux.com)

If you are keen on snapshoting and other features,
try www.nilfs.org.

Its quite simple to set up and seems to work fine.

Unlike the others, its been around since 2005.

Speed is always relative.
I tried it with postgres 8.3, inserting 1M records into a 60M record table.
Time taken went from 528sec (xfs) to 555 sec (nilfs).

Thats slower, not slooooooooooer!

I don't think its well suited to that, but it does a great job on on my cyrus mail spool.
