Firebird Poll Ignites Flames of Passion (MozillaZine)

MozillaZine reports on the results of its 'Firebird' poll. "The question posed by our last poll was intended to get feedback on 'Firebird', the new name for Phoenix. We got it in buckets. A massive 20,576 people voted — that's over ten times as many as for the new Roadmap poll."

This post by brianmurphy says it best:
Not many people care about the roadmap of a mostly functional product. Lots of people care about you being bad community members.

No. There were 20576 votes. Very different things when you consider there are a bunch of cra^H^H^H vocal firebird database users/developers protesting the name. It's a codename and the firebird guys shouldn't expect to hold it exclusively. I'm fine calling it mozilla-firebird if people won't acknowledge it as anything else.
