I remember there were a couple of issues, but I don't remember the details. I think low-latency support was one of these issues. libsydney is designed to be usable both by media players and by applications that require a very low delay (few ms).

Hope they come up with a good name for it too. libsydney and libcanberra are both very.. obsfuscating.
