It's a shame they locked it down. Why make it hard for your customers? They should have learned that lesson from the Asus Eee: by all means put the easy-to-use layer on top, but don't go out of your way to try to stop users from bypassing it. That way you get the best of both worlds: a friendly, approachable appliance for the non-computer-savvy, yet an eminently versatile, hackable little beastie for those who want to look at it that way.
