You invoke them when you do a yum install or a apt-get install to install the software then apt-get remove and yum remove when you remove the software.</blockquote> Currently these scripts are minimal and are written by people who actually know what they are doing WRT distribution integration, etc. You have only to look at the incredibly complex and unreliable scripts shipped by Plesk, VMWare, etc. to see what kind of horrors such a system would unleash on our users.
