Bitstream Vera Fonts 1.10 Released (GnomeDesktop)
GnomeDesktop has
an announcement for a new release of the
Bitstream Vera Fonts.
"There are four monospace and sans faces (normal, oblique, bold, bold oblique) and two serif faces (normal and bold). Fontconfig/Xft2 can artificially oblique the serif faces for you: this loses hinting and distorts the faces slightly, but is visibly different than normal and bold, and reasonably pleasing."

Thank you Thank you! :-)I've been wanting something as good as Veranda for a long time, and these are very close. They're also easy to use if you're running fontconfig. They even make LWN look good! ;-)
