The Mozilla guys took the moral low road on this one. I expected better from them. Now they claim that it is too late to even consider a change, because it would mean running it through AOL legal again. Well, if they don't change it, this is going to be flamewar fodder for YEARS. You heard it here first. We have better things to fight about. There's no question the Mozilla guys should admit they screwed the pooch and change the name, before any more damage is done.

We don't hear much about Interbase (or Firebird, the database, now), so I expect not enough people will notice the conflict or sympathize. That said, the Firebird database folks could use this as a PR opportunity, and make things even more ugly than they need to be.-Paul Komarek
