From the user's perspective, the a mirror is better than bittorrent. Mirrors are known-good
hosts with lots of bandwidth.

The point of bittorrent is that you can distribute a file which otherwise you would not be
able to distribute. People seem to forget that central element of bittorrent, and turn it
around to mean that users should expect extremely fast download rates. That's not true.
Bittorrent allows you to download a file that otherwise would not be available. That it is
sometimes fast is simple and artifact of the implementation.

Hmm the points said are a bit interesting but untill now everyone forgets that there is
ibiblio and it's sibling Osprey & Permaseed

Basically with that soft they can implement a mirror and BT with seeds directly from the
storrage and on the big pipe.

Last month it was prety usefull 2-3 hours delay from the oficial eclipse release and pushing
hard for the torrents. It made some diffference. The server wasn't so bogged down, and as
eclipse is just sw nobody kills the torrent so we have more seeds :)
