Just a quick update on August's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San
Francisco. Today, show producer IDG World Expo announced that the
following individuals will deliver keynote addresses:
* Peter Blackmore, executive vice president of the Enterprise Systems
Group at HP
* Jonathan Schwartz, executive vice president, Software Group, at Sun
Microsystems
* Irving Wladawsky-Berger, general manager of e-business on demand,
IBM
* Charles Rozwat, executive vice president, Server Technologies
Division, Oracle Corporation
* A senior executive from Red Hat (more details will be announced in
the coming weeks)
All keynoters will discuss how and why Linux is becoming an
increasingly popular OS among large enterprises - in industries ranging
from financial services to life sciences - mainly because of its lower
cost structure and proven ability to manage mission-critical
applications as well (and in some cases better) than Microsoft Windows.
Also at LinuxWorld in August, a panel of industry analysts - led by
Larry Augustin at Azure Capital Partners - will convene to discuss the
state of open source adoption. More details are included below.
Do let me know if you have any questions on today's announcement or
would like to speak to any of the folks below for more information on
their presentations at LinuxWorld.
Best,
Rob

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - April 15, 2003 - IDG World Expo, the leading
producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for IT
markets, today announced the keynote line-up for LinuxWorld Conference &
Expo®/San Francisco 2003, taking place August 4-7, 2003 at San

Open to all registered LinuxWorld Conference & Expo attendees, the
keynote and roundtable presentations will paint a current picture of
open source adoption, impart key lessons and describe in real terms how
to run a business more efficiently with open source technology. As Linux
and open source technologies become increasingly mainstream, CIOs, CTOs
and even CEOs are assessing the benefits of introducing these
technologies to their enterprises. The keynotes and analyst roundtable
at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo are designed to help these C-level
executives as well as IT directors and network managers navigate their
way through open source strategies and implementations.

with many customers around the world," said Blackmore. "Linux and the
open source community have always been a priority at HP and we are
pleased to deliver this keynote at LinuxWorld."

Oracle Corporation, will also present a keynote presentation on
Wednesday, August 6th at 3:30 p.m.
LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will present its first-ever State of Open

research

Continuing the tradition of game show style open source entertainment,
the Golden Penguin Bowl promises to keep the crowd engaged as the Geeks
and the Nerds match wits. Chris DiBona, vice president of marketing and
co-founder, Damage Studios, Inc., will host the feature presentation on
the expo floor at noon on Tuesday, August 5.
"Now that Linux and open source have become more mainstream to business
strategy, it's no longer a matter of 'if,' but 'when' and 'how,'" said
Rob Scheschareg, vice president of sales, marketing and product
development, IDG World Expo. "LinuxWorld attendees can expect to meet
like-minded professionals and leave with real-world insights and case
studies which will provide them with the tools to become heroes to their
companies."
