Parent article: A position statement on closed-source kernel modules

This is all well and good (and I agree with every word), but it doesn't tackle the hardware
manufacturer's three strong arguments against open-sourcing their drivers:

1. it's our intellectual property, open source drivers would reveal this valuable IP
2. why should we release open source drivers when there's a bunch of hippies writing open
source drivers for our hardware for free?
3. open sourcing drivers won't increase our market share by any noticable amount

The only way to influence them is to hit them in their balance sheet. This means:
1. the community stops writing open-source drivers for these companies if they don't offer
significant assistance to the community
2. end-users buy hardware only from companies who do write open-source drivers and/or offer
significant asssistance to the community
