ZERO_PAGE was removed in 2.6.24, apparently for better scalability on big machines with hundreds of CPUs. I had my own problems with the removal of ZERO_PAGE when it caused the kernel to deadlock during a big coredump. The fix for that problem hasn't been merged yet, but the description of this patch sounds like it might fix that problem too. I will have to retest it when I get some time...
