Release synchronization

I doubt distributions that do heavy development/fixing work will agree to sync with Ubuntu
before it brings a lot more to the table.

Right now that would mean do most of the hard work, and give Ubuntu the opportunity to claim
it and steal the spotlight. Some of the other distros are altruistic, but not that altruistic.
