Because of course the FSF is just a bunch of `hangers-on' who don't do
anything useful?

Look out. Your blatant prejudice is showing.

Now I didn't say that, did I? FSF-related programmers churn out lots of good code.

However, trying to restrict other people's options beyond the limits stated in the GPL
deserves ridicule, especially when trying to get in the way of useful things being created.

Hang on, are you seriously trying to say that RMS isn't entitled to
publish his own opinions because *you* disagree with them?

Wow.

Where did NigelK say that? That's two rather bizarre replies, nix. This is odd; you're
normally a very lucid commenter.

NigelK has form (and a number of deeply personal grudges against former heroes for not being
entirely superhuman). You might be missing nix responding to that, rather than to the face
value of his comments; I confess that my first reaction to NigelK is usually also to wonder
when the insane paranoid ranting is going to start.

There's that, and also it was 2am over here and I was (all unknowing)
rapidly coming down with a cold -> instant grumpy git mode.
