FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SSH DEMONSTRATES QUICKSEC TOOLKIT INTEGRATION WITH MONTAVISTA LINUX

Combination Enables Enhanced Network Security in Embedded Applications

SECUTECH TAIPEI, TAIPEI WORLD TRADE CENTER TAIWAN; HELSINKI, FINLAND; PALO
ALTO, Calif. and TOKYO April 7, 2003 SSH Communications Security
(HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security solutions, today
announced that it has demonstrated the SSH QuickSec Toolkit with
MontaVista Linux®.

The SSH QuickSec Toolkit Family is specifically designed to let network
device developers and OEMs quickly and easily implement IPSec (Internet
Protocol Security) functionality. Optimized and validated for use with
MontaVista Linux, the SSH QuickSec Toolkit provides industry-leading cost,
performance and time to market advantages for incorporating security, such
as VPN (Virtual Private Network) and firewall functionality, in IP
communication devices.

MontaVista Linux is the industry-leading Linux operating system for embedded
environments. It provides a common platform across a broad range of
processor architectures. MontaVista Linux Professional Edition features a
modern OS and kernel, with real-time functionality, multi-process and
multi-threaded execution, high performance networking, and extensive bundled
software components.

³With a growing number of embedded devices connecting to networks, security
becomes an increasingly important issue,² said Raymond Mak, vice president,
Asia Pacific, MontaVista Software . ³By working with SSH, we can jointly
offer our customers the ability to incorporate robust security in their
products without sacrificing cost competitiveness or lengthening time to
market.²

Demonstration tests were conducted using MontaVista Linux Professional
Edition running on Intel Architecture (IA-32) platforms with Intel IXP425
XScale processors on the front-end. MontaVista Linux supports both Intel
processor families as such, targeting the XScale-based Intel IXP425
platform with SSH QuickSec Toolkit proved a straightforward cross-compiling
exercise. The tests, using the publicly available Netperf benchmark, showed
the combined MontaVista/SSH solution quickly approaching line-speed with
moderate packet size and conservative CPU utilization, and good throughput
for encrypted traffic. For more information about the benchmark and results,
please contact SSH.

³As broadband services such as DSL and cable access gain popularity, branch
offices and telecommuters are receiving the benefits of high-speed Internet
service like those in enterprise class networks,² said JB Dumerc, Vice
President of sales, Asia Pacific, SSH Communications Security Corp. ³The
need for security exists in any device that connects to a network. Network
device developers and OEMs can now embed IPSec into their devices quickly
and easily, resulting in faster time to market and reduced development
costs.²
