Do desktop CPUs support C states? powertop says that "Detailed C-state information is only available on Mobile CPUs (laptops)". My desktop is pretty much on most of the time and I run cpufreq with ondemand governor. With multicore being the way forward, does turning off/on cores on demand make sense on the desktop?
