I disagree that 4K stacks are significant in the embedded world.  We only run a few dozen
processes so the footprint is not much, and we don't start thousands of new processes per hour
so the O(1) allocation doesn't matter.  On the other hand, it's *really* important to us that
corner cases which don't fit in 4K not cause a problem.
