I could not condone giving him access to the facilities necessary to carry on his work. A convicted murderer shouldn't be given any sort of special treatment regardless of his or her skills. (And giving a hacker access to a computer and Internet connectivity --- and allowing him the freedom to work "hacker's hours" on such things would count as "special treatment").Seems like a waste to have him sitting there or watching TV or doing some make-work project when he could actually be contributing something useful to society. That's all assuming that he would be able to actually do any work while living in the boring hell that is a prison. Don't make light of the punishment he's facing.
