Very interesting article. When I heard of the LDP, I also thought "Huh?" because all my
hardware works with Linux. But I've also become accustomed to the variety of ways in which
those devices and their drivers are broken and quirky. As an example, my laptop draws almost
8 times more current when sleeping under Linux than under Vista. This is probably because
Linux device drivers don't shut everything down to the degree that Windows does. While all
the devices are supported, the drivers haven't implemented all of their power saving features.
Instead of another year of a Linux Driver Project focused on simply more "supported devices"
that are half-working, how about a Linux Driver Improvement Project that focused on getting
more features of more devices working correctly?
