Can't think of any added benefit - already most OO.o code is C++ and adding a bit of Java just to be portable doesn't seem like a lot of benefit when you have added a whole another dependency of the JVM. But I am sure this has been discussed before...

But if also have a company agenda to push Java everywhere ...
