Parent article: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 Beta released (Linux-Watch)

Linked article: will come with the absolute newest of the major Linux desktop applications. These include Evolution 2.12.3, Firefox 3, OpenOffice 2.3.0

Hmm, OpenOffice.org 2.3.1 has already been available for a few months now. And it was a worthwhile upgrade: I sometimes need to work with MS doc files based on a certain corporate template that failed with prior versions, 2.3.0 included, but are OK with 2.3.1. I hope they update the version in the final release.

It may be that Firefox 3 is also released by the time RHEL 5.2 is.

*sigh*

I just moved my biggest XDMCP/NX server from CentOS 4.6 to Fedora 8 because I didn't want my
users to be stuck with ancient versions of Evolution, etc. and now Redhat decides to stay more
current. I've been disappointed by a number of embarrassing quality control issues in F8.
(i.e. gdm is *locked* at a maximum of 16 xdmcp sessions. The default has to be changed in the
source and recompiled to increase that number.) I might have considered sticking with CentOS
had I known this change in policy was coming.
