They call syslinux new ? I thought it was older than grub...
(not that it matters though, it's still fine software).

syslinux newness

It meant merely that it was new as the system bootloader for foresight

This was enabled by syslinux being significantly enhanced for use as a system bootloader; its main use in the Linux distribution context in the past has been for the isolinux component for creating bootable CD/DVD media. Recently, features were added to make it a reasonably replacement for grub for system booting, including a "boot once" facility.
