It's probably because they (believe they) can have more influence on the direction such a project/distribution is taking?

Shuttle's KPC computer will run Foresignt Linux Posted Mar 6, 2008 18:03 UTC (Thu) by superstoned (subscriber, #33164) [Link] I must add I found it very odd to see Asus go with Xandros - esp because it shipped a pretty outdated desktop (KDE 3.4.x). Maybe Xandros has some big plans for KDE 4.x, but I don't see anything about that either. Maybe it's just politics and 'we know them' or something.
