The RSPLIB project has just released the latest stable version 2.4.0 of
the RSPLIB Open Source RSerPool package. As usual, it can be found on the
project homepage: http://tdrwww.iem.uni-due.de/dreibholz/rserpool/ .

RSPLIB is the Open Source implementation (GPLv3) of the IETF's upcoming
standard for Reliable Server Pooling (RSerPool). It provides protocols and
functionalities for the management of server pools and sessions between
users and pools. In particular, RSerPool takes care for server selection and
session failover support among servers of a pool. The RSPLIB package contains
a library for the session communication (the rsplib), an implementation of
the pool management component (registrar) as well as multiple example service
implementations. Details on RSerPool and the RSPLIB can be found on the
project's website: http://tdrwww.iem.uni-due.de/dreibholz/rserpool/ . The
web site now also includes a demonstration video.

Version 2.4.0 is the first stable version containing the Scripting Service
client and server as one of the example applications. The Scripting Service
allows for shell-script based distribution of workload to remote machines: an
application can create a workload package (a Tar/GZip) archive consisting of
a work script and input data. This archive is distributed by the Scripting
Service client to a remote machine running a Scripting Service server. On
this remote machine, the workload package is unpacked, the worker script is
processed and finally the results are packed and sent back to the client.
Using the Scripting Service, workload distribution can be realized with a few
lines of shell code. An example for distributing OMNeT++ simulation runs can
be found here: http://www.exp-math.uni-essen.de/~dreibh/omnetpp/ .

Best regards
