Well, here's a thought (and maybe Ubuntu has planned this already): Come next decade, the releases will have a 2-digit major (i.e. year) release number, as in ver. 12.3 being released in March, 2012.

By then the release name will be somewhere around "Slimey Snake" or "Terrible Tapir" (just kidding!).

In fact, if the 6 moth release cycle is kept, Ubuntu 12.4 will have a code name beginning with
the letter "P"... And we will have a problem after 17.4 (Zooming Zebra) is out!
