For all those curious about Gentoo: I use vanilla-sources-2.6.24 in Gentoo; I needed to package.keyword vanilla-sources and mask 2.6.25. gentoo-sources, which is supported by Gentoo security had 2.6.23.16 kernel stable within about a day and half.
