The SCALE staff continue to put the final touches on SCALE 6x.

There are a few places left in the SCALE U classes on Friday, February
8th. The tutorials are: "Open-Source Email Systems: One Approach to Spam
Fighting" and "Introduction to Virtualization on Linux with Xen".
Register for the tutorials via the regular SCALE registration process,
and a SCALE Full Access pass will be included.

Many BoFs (Birds of A Feather Sessions) have been allocated rooms on the
BoF schedule. The current line-up is at
http://socallinuxexpo.org/scale6x/conference-info/social-...
If your group would like to hold a BoF session, contact
g@socallinuexexpo.org.

LPI will be conducting exams at SCALE. The cost is $75 per person for
each of the Level 1 and Level 2 Exams. Note that this is a discounted
price, down from $150 normally. Exams will be held as required Friday
through Sunday, depending on registration. Registration for the exams
will be done on-site, but reserve a spot by email to
certs@socallinuxexpo.org.

BSD Exams will also be conducted at SCALE. The exams will be paper based
and in English. Exam information is available from the
http://www.bsdcertification.org/index.php?NAV=Certification page of the
BSDCG website. Exam candidates should be proficient in the BSDA
Certification Requirements and the Command Reference, both of which are
available for free download from this page of the website.

Exam candidates must bring valid photo identification matching the name
they used when they registered. Those who participated in the beta
program should bring their beta certificate and/or the email address
they used during the beta program in order to use their 50% discount.

The BSDA certification is designed to be an entry-level certification on
BSD Unix systems administration. The successful BSDA candidate is able
to complete common administrative and troubleshooting tasks and has a
good understanding of general BSD Unix and networking principles. In
addition, the successful candidate demonstrates basic skills with these
BSD operating systems: Dragonfly BSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD.
Registration for the class will be handled by BSD Certification Group
through their web site. The cost will be $75 per person or $37.50 for
Beta Program Participants*. There are a maximum of 75 exams available.
Exams will be available Friday through Sunday. Information on
registration will be on the SCALE site.

* In the Beta program, participants are able to take the test at a
reduced but will be asked new questions that have not appeared on
previous test.

It appears that SCALE 6X will be setting a record for attendance. In
spite of upgrading the registration process every year, there's usually
a Saturday morning bottleneck. In order to avoid the usual crush at
Registration, SCALE highly recommends that you register ahead of time to
avoid some of the delay.

The 6th Annual So Cal Linux Expo is February 8th-10th. Come join us for
a great Open Source Software show!
