I assume your interpretation, if holds true by a court in a country, applies to most free software licenses, such as the BSD license as well, as applied in the area under the effective control of that country. Nothing specific to the GPL.

Revocable GPL (Groklaw) Posted Jan 29, 2008 19:53 UTC (Tue) by ncm (subscriber, #165) [Link] There is a bit specific to the GPL: the statement that the copyright owner extends the license to each new recipient. That's implied in other licenses, but not stated. However, I agree that it doesn't seem to make much difference.
