Re: Windows: Sure, just stash everything you might need into the installer, and drop all onto the unsuspecting victim installee, in the vage hope nothing breaks due to several versions of the same stuff... plus, there are not that many versions of the base system around.

Re: Solaris: As always, it is very easy if the target is one, and tightly controlled to boot.

Linux, with its literally hundreds of distributions, each with its own objectives and guidelines, is a quite different beast. That is exactly the key point, and the biggest strength of Linux (and, as this thread shows), source of a weakness too.
