For adding English subtitles to an Hungarian movie. Naturally to translate the phrase meaning
"Can you direct me to the station?" with the appropriate "Please fondle my bum."

I did subtitles in Linux for a client that wanted english subs for a movie we made; I used a
few different programs. Gnome-subtitles wasn't good at that time, however, it seems like it is
capable now.

So you might want to try it out. http://gnome-subtitles.sourceforge.net/

Wow, it's big! On my system, which has GNOME already installed:
# apt-get install gnome-subtitles
After this operation, 54.8MB of additional disk space will be used.
