DELL AND ORACLE POWER LOUISIANA'S STATE-OF-THE-ART JUSTICE SYSTEM IN BATON
ROUGE
Companies Deliver Integrated Solutions to the Nineteenth Judicial District
Court
ROUND ROCK, Texas and REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., March 24, 2003 - Computing
platforms from Dell and Oracle are helping Louisiana's Nineteenth Judicial
District Court provide law enforcement, judges and the public with real-time
updates to important records.
The court is using Dell(tm) servers running Oracle9i Database with Real
Application Clusters and Oracle9i Application Server on Red Hat Linux
Advanced Server to archive court data online and distribute the latest
information, which will assist in greater accuracy and efficiency for tasks
such as issuing and recalling arrest warrants.
The platform will run the court's critical applications for case management,
jury management and drug-court case management, working to improve
interfaces with district attorneys, judges, state and local law enforcement,
and constituents.
The Judicial Court is also using Oracle9i Application Server for its ACS
Judicial Solutions application to manage the court schedules, records and
related documents. Leveraging Oracle9i Application Server Portal, these ACS
records and schedules are now managed online, providing county clerks and
judges with a single consolidated view of their records for better
management.
The Nineteenth Judicial Court chose the Dell/Oracle solution because it
provides the ability to fully integrate its database securely, reliably and
accurately with the Internet to disseminate the most current information.
"We are thrilled to see that after much study and comparison, the
Dell/Oracle solution has met our needs to perfection, helping us to realize
the long-standing goal of effectively sharing data with the Nineteenth
Judicial Court as a first step of growth into a successful future," said
Doug Welborn, clerk of court, East Baton Rouge Parish. "With more exciting
plans on board as this first phase has begun implementation, we are
confident that the Dell/Oracle partnership will bring the East Baton Rouge
Court system to the forefront of operations in the South."
Public and private sector customers are deploying standards-based
technologies from Dell, Oracle and Red Hat to achieve high performance and
availability for mid-range and business critical applications that were once
only associated with proprietary platforms, but at significant cost savings.
"The Nineteenth Judicial Court of Baton Rouge is building a state-of-the-art
computing platform using standards-based technologies that will help them
achieve the greater efficiency, accuracy and information sharing required by
court systems today," said Jim Anderson, vice president in Dell's Advanced
Systems Group. "These capabilities provide a valuable element of the area's
homeland security efforts, such as the ability to share a variety of
information across agencies."
The four-node cluster in Baton Rouge consists of Dell PowerEdge 6650
servers, each with four Intel(r) 2.0 GHz Xeon(tm) processors with the Dell |
EMC CX400 SAN storage system. The platform runs Oracle9i Real Application
Clusters and Oracle9i Application Server with Red Hat(r) Linux(r) Advanced
Server.
