Redmond Linux was so named because its founder Joesph Cheek lived in Redmond, Washington. The distribution was later named Lycoris as the distribution tried to become more commercial. Lycoris was acquired by Mandriva in June of 2005. By then Joseph Cheek was the sole employee of Lycoris and starting working for Mandriva.
