Novell, Inc. has announced its fourth quarter 2007 financial results. "For the quarter, Novell reported net revenue of $245 million, which excludes $6 million of revenue from its Swiss-based business consulting unit, which Novell agreed to sell during the quarter. This compares to net revenue of $234 million for the fourth fiscal quarter 2006. The loss from operations for the fourth fiscal quarter 2007 was $13 million, compared to income from operations of $4 million for the fourth fiscal quarter 2006."

It's nice to see their revenue growing (if in fact it actually is, GAAP allows for liberal
interpretations of income depending on how you calculate). They were in decline for many many
years. It's a great statement on how Linux service companies can prosper.

It's surprising to me actually that they don't offer their groupware product as a "home"
version. I imagine it would be very popular with households with IT workers and those same IT
people would get familiar with Novell's products. Even at full price though it's still almost
as cheap as Windows Home Server and is 1000x more useful.

yeah, why they don't team with someone like asus and prepackage it just dump it on the market
is beyond me.

on the other hand it's also beyond me how they can spend 245M USD.

A lawyer friend says some of the world's great works of fiction are financial statements. :-)

Yeah, but...

It's nice that they're pulling in more money, but

This sounds like the old joke about selling at a loss, but making it up on volume.
