Mandriva has been selected as 'Product of the Year 2007' in the Linux
category at the Softool exhibition in Moscow. The 'Product of the
Year 2007' competition was held by the department of information
technologies and computing systems of the Russian Academy of Sciences,
the Federal Agency of Information Technologies, the publishing house
SK Press, and IT-expo.
The winners were determined by an council of experts headed by Sergey
Abramov, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and
Director of the Institute of Programming Systems. All software
products were judged by different criteria such as the demand for the
product in the market, existence of similar Russian and foreign
products, comparison of the features of the product, press coverage
during the last year, compliance of software product to Russian and
international standards and so on.
The high quality of Mandriva products was also confirmed by Russian
customers, partners and computing press. A number of IT magazines in
Russia published reviews of Mandriva Linux during 2007. Mandriva
Linux was also chosen by a large number of companies in
Russia. Mandriva has customers in all regions of Russia, in areas from
the public sector through the entertainment industry and the financial
sector to the oil industry.
Many educational organizations have also showed great interest in
Mandriva Linux. Mandriva's special Academy license allows an
educational institution to install Mandriva Linux on any and all of
its computers, and on the personal computers of the teachers and
students. A large range of schools, colleges and universities use
Mandriva Linux, such as Udmurtia Teachers University and the Perm
state technical university.
Mandriva Linux will also soon be certified by the Federal Service of
Export and Technical Control, allowing public sector agencies and
organizations dealing with confidential information to use Mandriva
Linux.
