Yet another male perspective on women in free software
When I got a mathematics and CS degree several lifetimes ago exactly *zero* of the students in that subject were female. I also got the impression that almost all the mathematics students were male too.
I doubt that the selection process was sensative to either sex or social skills. What mattered was ability on the academic front. I do not know what matters at other universities because I was a serious (and successful :-) candidate for Oxford university.
Those with qualifiactions in french and history are unlikely to be good at software development, indepent of their intelligence. I believe by brother, who is a french historian, is smarter then me. That said IMHO a lot of people over estimate my intelligence.
(A lot of bits could be expended on specutaling why women are under represented and suspect most of them would be ill informed. I have no opion on that subject.)
