I don't know what's the situation for the other countries, but I tried to buy an Ubuntu laptop in France when they came out, but I couldn't. The offer was very very limited (e.g. no way to have an ultraportable, only 1 model available).
Anyway it stayed only for a few days, so I had to find something else.
