SuSE announces 8.2, new partner program

SuSE has announced SuSE Linux 8.2, a strongly desktop-oriented version of the company's distribution. Availability is mid-April.

The company has also launched a new partner program, which is aimed at helping others sell SuSE products.

SuSE Linux 8.2 also includes a pre-release of gcc 3.3

Oh, please... didn't we have something like that already?

Considering that SuSE switched from gcc-2.95.3 in 8.0 to gcc-3.2 in 8.1, I don't think anyone can expect them to stick with the same compiler in 8.2. I don't think gcc 3.3 release would be very different from whatever SuSE ships. According to the plans of gcc developers, version 3.3 is due on March 1, 2003.
