The above is not a useful comment; smells like a troll.

There's a difference between Linux the OS kernel and Linux, the community of kernel hackers.

The same is true of OpenBSD. Moreover, there's a difference between the OpenBSD kernel and the OpenBSD distribution.

There's a difference between the Debian Project and Debian GNU/Linux, the OS.

There's a difference between the GNU Project and GNU, the operating system (regardless of whether Linux, Hurd, or something else is at the middle of it).

None of these differences cause more than momentary confusion as long as people are willing to hold an honest discussion. If they're not, then they must be willing to defend the premise that there is a big problem with the person who utters both of the following sentences: "Honey, I put the Ford in the garage tonight because I think it's going to rain" and "Ford shares rose 25 points today -- how about that!".
