Seems like Sun is planning to have a go at high-end HPC. The Constellation 500 Tflop monster at TACC, and now this.

Also, it seems that the Lustre servers are going Solaris only. From http://arch.lustre.org/index.php?title=Lustre_1.8_Vision_... : "Lustre 1.8 will offer the ext4/ldiskfs backends and ZFS DMU backends, as well as a migrator between them, for both the MDS and OSS. Lustre 2.0 will phase out support for the ldiskfs file system."

I suppose vendors who sell Lustre stuff today like IBM, Cray, HP etc. won't be overly happy with this. Interesting times.
