Red Hat releases Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 beta (Linux-Watch)

Linux-Watch takes a look at the first beta for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1. "If it seems like it was only months ago that Red Hat launched its new major operating system, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, that's because it wasn't quite five months ago. Unlike Microsoft, which is still playing coy about when it will replace Vista Service Pack 1, Red Hat has just announced the beta to its next upgrade: RHEL 5.1."

Replace Vista Service Pack 1?

Vista SP1 has not been released yet. It's too yearly to ask when it will be replaced with something else (SP2, presumably).

In any case, comparing RHEL to Vista is flawed for many reasons. Red Hat is moving is smaller steps, and it's done on purpose.

Plus, Vista is a customer-to-workstation-level OS, whereas RHEL targets workstations to servers.

customer OS? So you have to install it in your brain? I guess I stick to Free Software (though Debian, not Red Hat).
