The first Slackware 9.0 release candidate

I know this might sound odd, but I just installed this on a Toshiba Portege.
Every device in the laptop except for the Winmodem, just worked. And this is
Slackware, which is not known exactly for holding your hand! I am very
impressed.

It took a little more tweaking to get the modem working (had to download a
binary driver) and the video running full-speed (it defaulted to VESA), but the
machine was very usable from the beginning. Great job.
