Member of Scottish Parliament Patrick Harvie Talks to KDE (KDE.News)

KDE.News covers the final talk at aKademy by Patrick Harvie, a Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Green Party. "While not a technical wizard like most of the other talks of the day, Patrick was able to describe to us the attitudes to free software from the Government he is elected to keep an eye on, and how the work of KDE developers applies to more than just software."

I did see his talk on the video, regretted I didn't have time to attend
it live... It's worth viewing, guys.

Broken video?

Can anyone make the audio available? I can't seem to get it to work with mplayer and extract it myself...

He's not a Member of Parliament!

Can we have a (sic) in the LWN title?

Patrick Harvie is a Member of the Scottish Parliament, or an MSP. He is not a Member of Parliament and is not allowed to call himself one, since that would mean that he sat at Westminster in the UK Parliament.

Er, yes he is. "Parliament" is not synonymous with Westminster. In the
same way as, for example, a French elected politician may be a member of
parliament in Paris, etc etc. Anyway, the text makes clear in which
parliament he sits.

But back to Linuxy/free software matters, I hope that Patrick, and people
like him who understand what any kind of monoculture does to any society,
do manage to achieve some good. I was at the dinner mentioned in the
article, and it was interesting to see people's eyes slowly opening.
