Ubuntu's Mark Shuttleworth: Prepare for the Shared Software Tidal Wave (TechNewsWorld)
TechNewsWorld has an interview with
Mark Shuttleworth. ""I was poor. I was desperate. I wanted to be on
this bandwagon of this Internet thing, and I wanted to find a business that
wouldn't require large amounts of bandwidth or large amounts of
capital. The key was Linux. It was Linux that let me connect to the Net so
I could start soaking up this knowledge," said Mark Shuttleworth, founder
of Ubuntu Linux."

In the interview text, Shuttleworth never uses the term "shared software". He just talks about shared work, and sharing in general. The actual wording of the title may have been by the editor.

The title of this LWN article is precisely that of the TechNewsWorld article, barring the addition of the ``(TechNewsWorld)'' at the end. Every time it links to an article, LWN uses a title effectively identical to that of the article, even though more than once it has been, ahem, taken to task for misleading wording.If I may be allowed to rearrange your comment a bit :-) B. The actual wording of the title may have been by the editor.
Title munging (TechNewsWorld) Posted Jun 26, 2007 13:59 UTC (Tue) by Max.Hyre (subscriber, #1054) [Link] Interestingly, the title of this comment's predecessor (and, I expect, this one) have ``(TechNewsWorld)'' appended, even though I changed the title for my comment.I certainly don't remember this being the case in the past (e.g., http://lwn.net/Articles/176631/). Jon, did you change LWN's code to automatically add the source to titles, and it's a bit overenthusiastic?

It's hard to deal with newlines in single-line entry boxes, since there is no indication that they are present. They can be found by moving the cursor beyond the apparent line end.As for the article, I did read it, and I specifically checked that "shared software" wasn't mentioned anywhere except the title. However, the title makes it seem that "shared software" comes from Mark Shuttleworth. He does use "open sources" once, and so does the interviewer. Anyway, it's remarkable that a different term was used in the title, soon after OSI announced its intention to enforce its definition of Open Source.

Not sure why people are seeing that. Will look into it - after I've recovered from my day in airline hell and given my OLS talk...
