PRESS RELEASE:
http://www.linmagau.org launches its first edition 28th Feb 2003.
A new online (Linux/OSS) magazine.
The idea for a "local content - local people" magazine for au/nz
was raised back in Dec 2002, by a few folks from the local PLUG
(Perth Linux Users Group http://plug.linux.org.au) and over the
last few months has steadily gained interested members and
contributors via the web site.
This edition will be a highlight/spotlight focus on the recent
LCA2003(Linux Conference Australia http://linux.org.au/conf/2003)
held in Perth, Western Australia and will carry a "sneak previews"
of what is planned for the coming editions.
The plan is to continue to publish online for at least 6 months,
testing "different" themes and topics to see what is well recieved.
The adage "build it and they will come" holds some truth for
the magazine, as the site is there, the content is coming but
the difference is that for the future linmagau will be driven
by its readers. That is.. suggestions, feedback and offers of
random writings are always welcome and will be acted upon..
With the current surge in publicity for Linux in general and the
renewed interest in Linux Australai (http://www.linux.org.au)
this apears to be "the right time" for willing folks to stop
standing on the beach and actually take the plunge..
