Trolltech has announced that Adobe's Photoshop Album product was built on the Qt toolkit. One wonders if Adobe didn't make that choice with an eye toward eventually releasing some products for Linux..

Very interesting. Common code base for mac, windows, linux. Speaks volumes of the quality of QT. The kde development has helped make QT a much better toolkit. Can't make money on open source, eh?
I wonder if this is one of the first announcements of this type. Microsoft continues to sqeeze any independant software developer on their platform forcing them to look elsewhere. This is going to be an interesting year.

nope. Not a first one :-)
Opera is QT too, as is a fairly large amount of niche commercial software. QT is just an awful nice toolkit, the fact that it's also crossplatform is icing on the cake :-0

Yes, is going to be a interesting year!. And sure this guys of Adobe have been around for many years... they are no fulls! But if MS succeeds to lock everibody else out of "Paladium"- extremely easy for them- then Adobe as to dance at the sound of MS toons...or die...Dont belive me????; just look at http://www.aaxnet.com/editor/edit029.html
"What we need is a full defined "DESTOPK LINUX WIHT EASY HARDWARE INTERFACE", and not a very cheap Unix server commanded by IBM or HP.

Qt is impressive. I am considering using it for a future project on Windows, but I worry about resource consumption and performance. Anyone out there have any idea about memory footprint, app start-up times and widget responsiveness using Qt on Win32?

Yes, it could be a major boom if it were very close to native Win32API, and a Liveboat to many software publishers out there. I belive, especialy Adobe and Macromedia, are being warned here :- http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/feb2003/tc20030226_0465_tc056.htm
M$(apart from office) now as the means to do major damage to the Mac platform; it could cut the air supply out of the tradicional shrine of heavy graphics publishers.
