I'm still using WindowMaker. No toolbars, and if I shrink the icons down to 16 pixels they don't get in the way either. KDE and GNOME always seem too slow, even on modern hardware, and some of the other lightweight WMs are too minimalist. WindowMaker strikes the right balance IMO.

I agree. I have been using wmaker for the past few months and have really enjoyed it! It is fast, doesn't get in the way, and can be made to look quite nice.
