It is not designed to be minimal, it is designed to be a clone of NEXTSTEP. The NeXT computing environment is a part of history now, and WindowMaker is a living homage to it's legacy. I wouldn't expect the program to be anything more or less than a clone of NEXTSTEP circa 1995.
